Timothée Chalamet

Bio:

Arguably not since Leonardo DiCaprio has a young actor walked the line between box office stardom and critical praise as successfully as Timothée Chalamet.

Born in New York to well-connected French-American parents in 1995, Chalamet enrolled at LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in his early teens, where he appeared in productions of Cabaret and Sweet Charity among others. By the age of 16 he had already had a run in an acclaimed off-Broadway play (The Talls) and appeared on the hugely popular TV drama Homeland.

At 17 he scored his most high-profile role to date as the son of Matthew McConaughey’s character in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. He continued to act consistently in films after that, but it would be another three years before his major breakthrough as Elio Perlman in Luca Guadagnino’s much-discussed Call Me By Your Name. For his performance in the film, the then-22 year old Chalamet received his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor, which he lost to Gary Oldman in Darkest Hour.

Around the same time as his breakthough in Call Me By Your Name, Chalamet also had a memorable supporting turn in Greta Gerwig’s Ladybird. He would work with Gerwig again two years later when he played the role of Laurie in her adaptation of Little Women. He also received significant Oscar buzz in 2018 for his performance as a recovering drug addict in the family drama Beautiful Boy, but ultimately failed to receive a nomination.

In 2021, his stardom took another upward swing with his leading role as Paul Atreides in Dune, ably proving that he could carry a big-budget blockbuster. He scored another smash hit in 2023 in Wonka, closely followed by Dune Part II in 2024, which made even more money than the first film.

In 2025, Chalamet scored his second Oscar Nomination in Lead Actor for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.
